HeNe/CH4 Optical Clock Employing a Carrier-envelope Phase Independent Clockwork

Oliver D. Muecke

Optical frequency combs based on ultrabroadband Ti:sapphire lasers represent a unique tool for optical frequency metrology and enable the construction of optical clocks. In my talk, I will present a carrier-envelope phase independent clockwork based on difference-frequency generation in a periodically poled lithium niobate crystal that we used to construct a HeNe/CH4 optical molecular clock. Furthermore, I will discuss our self-referenced 200 MHz octave-spanning Ti:sapphire laser with 50 attosecond carrier-envelope phase jitter.
